Why we do this
The 1st Wymondham Scout Group and Wymondham District Girl Guides HQ Management Committee organises a yearly “bag pack” fundraising event, at the Waitrose supermarket in Wymondham. The funds form an important part of the Committee’s annual budget and this year we are specifically starting to fundraise towards the much-needed replacement of the HQ roof.
Who can help at the event
We need the support of the members of all the sections that meet at the Scout and Guide HQ. The older members such as Guides, Scouts, Explorers and Rangers assist at the checkouts by packing people’s bags while younger Beavers and Rainbows help by holding collection tins (with adult supervision) to collect the donations from the Shoppers.

Signing Up to help
In addition to the sign-up sheet in the HQ this year we are trialling an online method to enable members to sign up from home. Please use the link below to go to the doodle poll and then sign up your child for the relevant slots they are able to help. Remember the older sections should be signed up under “Packers” and the younger Sections as “Collectors” this is because Waitrose restricts the total number of members we can have participating at any one point during the day.
The poll will ask for your email so we can contact you if you win the prize and your telephone number in case we needed to contact you on the day, neither of these will be distributed outside the normal Scout / Guide Leadership and Executive teams (but as YOUR section Leader may not be there at the same time your child is we ask for this information again). I’ve copied across details from the signup sheet in the office so apologies if I have butchered any names!
New for 2016: Prizes
Time slots are one hour long to maximise the number of available spaces for all our members to help towards the fundraising for their HQ. Although we hope that members, certainly those from older Sections, will sign up for multiple slots. At the end of the day, we will run a little prize draw and will award four participants a small prize (probably a box of chocolates) for volunteering their time to help support the event. The prize draw will be run along the lines that for every hour volunteered they will get one entry into the draw we’ll then pick 4 at random and get the prize to them when the sections meet again in January.
